Christmas time is a period of love and compassion, and at Keepoint we are proud to support the Shoebox Full of Love Homeless Appeal this Christmas.
Running into its 3rd year, the Shoebox Full of Love is a Liverpool based appeal that looks to help the homeless, as well as vulnerable women, men and children in the run up to the Christmas period. The idea is for shoeboxes to be donated, filled with helpful clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, toys, toiletries, travel tickets, books, non-perishable goods, and other things that you deem suitable.
Donations are asked to be labelled clearly for the gender and age they have been packed for, and left unsealed so as to prove quicker and easier to check for safety before being passed on for use.
The Shoebox Full of Love began in 2014 and soon grew into a sizeable appeal after becoming popular through Social Media. Last year the appeal reached over 5000 people, doubling in size from year one and it looks like it’ll be even bigger in 2016!
There are a number of charitable services that will be helped directly by the Shoebox Appeal, including Whitechapel Centre, The Basement, YMCA Liverpool, YMCA St Helens, YMCA Birkenhead, The First Step Centre, Zoe’s Place, Amadudu, CRI, James Bulger Foundation, MALS, Wirral Womens and Childrens Aid, University of Liverpools Help the Homeless Society, Alt Bank House, Wirral Ark, Fourth Dimension and more!
To do our bit to support such a great cause, we have designed their website and will be hosting it for them. We will also be acting as one of the drop off points for your Shoebox donations at our Liverpool city centre offices.
As a team we have also decided to forego our usual Secret Santa within the office, and instead are committed to each member of our staff making up their own shoebox to add to the campaign.
If you’d like to volunteer or help in anyway, you can find further info by visiting Shoebox Full of Love.
